Creating value through innovation and design
Since its inception, the firm has been dedicated to design, focusing on architecture, interiors, and urbanism. It operates comprehensively with advisory and technical support, project management, technology and BIM management, branding, and wayfinding design.
The firm has been instrumental in transforming Panama City into a vibrant cosmopolitan hub, undertaking high-caliber projects while consistently integrating functionality with quality design.
Living in cities is comparable to living in the future, as our current urban lifestyle is the only foreseeable path forward for society.
For architects, design is the primary tool for transforming spaces—not only to make them habitable but also to enhance well-being and security, harmonize with nature, and uphold a commitment to environmental sustainability. Design is always part of the solution, offering irreplaceable value and granting identity to projects, especially at a time when cities demand greater attention due to the impacts of climate change and growing challenges in waste management, which are becoming more evident worldwide.
"Architecture is a constant interplay of ideas. Form and content, functionality and beauty, are expressions of the same reality: the proposal of design and execution in architecture."
As the founder and soul of the firm, his dedication to architecture has always been all consuming. He earned a postgraduate degree in Planning and Urban Economics from the University of Colorado, a Master’s in Architecture and Urban Design from The Catholic University of America, and completed further postgraduate studies at Harvard University's Graduate School of Design. For nearly a decade, he has served as a CEMEX Awards jury member and currently represents Panama in the AIA, while also being on the Editorial Board of Architectural Digest Latin America. In 2023, he was honored with the Leonardo Villanueva Meyer Award by the College of Architects of Panama and the Panamanian Society of Engineers and Architects (SPIA).
Ignacio's dedication to architectural innovation and sustainable methodologies have been instrumental to the growth of Mallol. After graduating with the highest distinction from ISTHMUS in 2005, he earned a Master of Science in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University in New York. In 2008, Ignacio joined the firm, becoming CEO in 2015. His work has garnered international recognition, and under his leadership and entrepreneurial vision, he has championed projects that set new standards in the industry.
Marietta’s interest for the material transformation of spaces has driven her practice and expertise throughout her journey at the firm. After receiving her Master's in Design at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia in Barcelona, she founded MATERIA, a hub and library to explore new building materials, and incorporated herself into the Interior Design team at the firm in 2005. Since 2016, she has co-directed the Lifestyle Studio with Ximena Mallol, designing luxury residential projects.
Ximena is a multifaceted architect whose experience from her international education and background has solidified the cornerstone of her residential design style. Following her outstanding career at Barcelona’s European Institute of Design (IED) and ISTHMUS, Ximena interned at SHESHA Rome before joining the firm in 2012. By 2016, she was co-directing the Lifestyle Studio with Marietta Mallol, creating luxury buildings, homes, and apartments that redefine modern living.
